     Texas House Bill 3979 is nothing more than an extension of Trumpism despite the naked emperor's hopefully permanent removal from both the White House and relevancy. State Rep. Steve Toth probably thinks he's made his GQP bones by introducing this bill when in actuality, he's making himself the face of ignorance, which in his world means "owning the libs" by any means necessary, win or lose.      Toth's bill seeks to ban the teaching of critical race theory, which, by the way, has not been proposed in Texas schools as pointed out by Rep. Jarvis Johnson, but it's a ban on critical thinking. Personally, I'm old enough to remember when critical thinking was looked upon as an essential element in the educational process.     Most people would tell you that the restrictive voter laws popping up all over the country are a direct response to Trump's pathetic whining about losing the 2020 Presidential Election he assumed was already rigged in his favor. And while that's true, there's also something more at play.     When House Bill HR-1, the For the People Act, was introduced in early January of this year, two days before the Capital Insurrection, it threatened to put an end to partisan gerrymandering, thus forcing a party bereft of policy ideas, or for that matter, original thought, to do things they are no longer equipped to do. So, it's certainly no accident that the idea for Georgia's Election Integrity Act also came about in early January.
